La Caleta
Some photos from Lima and La Caleta Vidal. La Caleta is a small beachside village where the pace is slow, the sun is hot and the sea is cold.
Spending a week with Oli’s second cousin Chris, and his husband Jorge, was a taste of home in an unfamiliar place. Other than Chris, we were the only Gringos. The pace of life is something I could get used to.
And the sunsets were the best I’ve ever seen.

Lima
We only spent a few days in Lima, mainly in Miraflores and Barranco. We had a lovely time, enjoying undoubtedly the best food we had in Peru. But, we didn’t feel like we truly connected with the city. Maybe three days is not enough time to discover a place’s soul. We did feel like so much of the city is out of bounds, with only a few places ‘allowed for us’. I know it comes from a place of care – people from Lima want you to be safe. But it did leave the places we visited slightly sanitised.
